We moved about a mile and a half away. This is my new view. I am still in awe of how this all happened.
Rolling back to early March, my in-laws were remembering the time when we were living a block away and they saw the kids all he time. Years later, the kids are at the tail end of high school, the oldest off to college in the fall. My wife's parents moved into one of those "independent living" communities a few years ago and really don't feel like they are getting the value out of it for what it costs. We've always planned to have the surviving one come live with is at our house when the time came but, since they were not happy now, and our house is too small for 8, we rented a huge place where could all live in together until the kids have moved on.
I've been busy as hell getting my house ready to rent out while also this weekend moving two households into one. It's a bit overwhelming but, at the end of it all, there will be that fantastic view.

By foot, most likely. :]
Just kidding, that's an impressive view indeed. A little crowded with the marina and all the boats, I've always been partial to more nature, less civilization on my beaches, but I'd still give an arm (left one, so I could still shift) and a leg (left one so... no, wait, right one so I could... fuck!) to be there.

Indeed! I saw three large Navy vessels go out this morning. We overlook the channel into the San Diego bay and NAS North Island so there's tons to see.

Thanks man! In our case it's no sacrifice; I get along with my in-laws better than my wife does ;) They are great people and the bonus is enjoying this house for a few years; there is no way I could manage this financially alone.

I know these feels. I grew up in the high dessert of SoCal and always felt like Snoopy's cousin Spike. After living there for the first 18 years of my life, I promised myself my kids would grow up in an awesome place ... and it doesn't get much better than San Diego.

I too get along well with my in-laws. My wife's mom has a standing invitation to live with us whenever she should feel the need.
